    Social Mission: Children’s Place, Inc.

At Fig, we believe in the power of a community that works together to identify needs and find solutions—one that creates connections and is passionate about helping its neighbors. For our 2019 Social Mission partner, we’ve chosen Children’s Place, Inc., an impactful non-profit whose good works contribute immensely to our thriving, local community.

Children’s Place relies on the generosity of our community and now, during the holiday season, they need your help more than ever. The children at Children’s Place have big dreams this time of year—not for the hottest toy or the newest digital gadget, but simply for new clothing and shoes to call their own. Their wish lists include jeans that don’t fall down, a new coat to keep them warm during the winter months, and other basic necessities. Children’s Place’s wish is for every child to be equipped with the skills and positive coping mechanisms that will enable them to excel in school and life, and gifts of clothing can make all the difference.

“Every year we hope and pray that people will choose to make our children’s wishes come true,” said Children’s Place director Peggy Ford. “I cannot put into words the emotional boost and confidence these items give our children.”

Each December, generous members of our community become “Guardian Angels” and step up to help Children’s Place raise funds for their annual shopping trip for the kids. The community’s tax-deductible donations help to fund the purchase of basic necessities like new clothing, coats, underwear, socks, and shoes for children in need who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, toxic stress, or other adverse childhood experiences. These necessities are a luxury to the children at Children’s Place. They are gifts that give them confidence to face the sometimes very difficult journey ahead. The Guardian Angel program also provides developmental toys, books, and equipment for their Therapeutic Childcare Program that works to meet the developmental and unique needs of the over 100 children they serve annually.

’Tis the season for gifting and giving, and as you make your lists, consider becoming a Guardian Angel at Children’s Place, Inc. to give their children’s wishes wings and their hearts hope.
